Environmental Education Project

Under the EEP, both staff members and Promotoras have received training in the area of reducing lead poisoning at school and in the home; avoiding pesticide contamination in the workplace and at home; and awareness in asbestos. Campesinos staff members provide staff training to other agencies, such as Head Start Programs and Child Care Centers on these particular areas. The Promotoras distribute this information via a video presentation and with written materials to community members throughout the Imperial Valley. This project is funded by the California Endowment.

Vecinos Unidos para la Salud

Within this project, Staff Members have attended various trainings, workshops, and meetings on particular health topics relevant to the area of El Campo under the Partnership for the Public's Health. These topics include education on diabetes awareness and management; domestic violence patterns and conflict resolution along with a training on domestic violence related legal assistance; and training on resources and referrals for the Imperial County. Currently Staff Members provide information and presentations on these particular topics; however, by the end of Implementation Year 2, Promotoras will take on the responsibility of these trainings. This collaboration is funded by the Partnership of the Public's Health, a collaborative of The California Endowment and Public Health Institute.
